Crocodile attacks

There’s been a bit of a run of crocodiles eating people lately. In the past week, this one and another from a few days ago. Both of them in the Northern Territory.
Its hardly surprising, they are everywhere up there. I was in Darwin and Kakadu in 2002 and you can pretty much count on there being crocs in any river, creek and waterhole. Doing the tourist things in Kakadu, its really fascinating watching them, in the water and on the banks.
I heard on the radio that there’s something like 75,000 of them in the NT now. There are calls for safari hunting of a limited number to be made legal. I hope that doesn’t happen.
Another thing I hate to see is the frenzy to hunt down and kill the croc when someone gets killed. As tragic as it is, the water is their territory and we have to recognise that and live with them, acting responsibly and taking necessary precautions. Same goes for shark attacks - why should we hunt down and kill them when the human has intruded into their domain and they have acted naturally.
