Keeping it in your pants

Two stories today where men in responsible positions have been undone by their inability to keep their dicks in their pants.

First, its not looking good for this judge - I think he’s screwed up his Supreme Court chances. For some reason, he was unable to control his desire to pleasure himself with one of these.

What the fucking hell was he thinking? Was he that desparate to gain an extra inch that he couldn’t wait to the privacy of his own home - or was he worried his wife would catch him out?

Second, the Deputy Police Commissioner in WA has fallen foul of the “inappropriate use of email” policy. What the hell was he thinking? How did he ever get to his position of authority - anyone working in any sort of organisation knows you do not proposition women, send lewd jokes etc via the company email. Another career kamikaze due to thinking with the wrong head!

Schappelle - part 578

I was thinking a few days ago that the Schappelle Corby case had gone quiet lately. It seems the judgement on her appeal to the Bali High Court is due this week. Will she get anywhere this time?

I doubt it myself - haven’t seen anything in media reports on the case since her original conviction that amounts to real evidence. I suspect the result will be a sentence reduction of some sort, like 20 years down to 12 or something like that.

Do I think she’s innocent? I doubt it. The whole saga has been run as a PR campaign as opposed to a legal argument. I think this is to distract attention from the lack of evidence to support her story. I find the whole argument about the drugs being planted in her luggage by airport baggage handlers very hard to swallow - why would someone take the risks of taking a large bag of drugs into a secure area under video surveillance, avoid being monitored, and then having to rely on an accomplice at the other end to intercept the right bag, get the drugs out, avoid surveillance and get it out of the secure area. It’d require a lot of people to be turning a blind eye, being in on it, paid off etc - all this out of a relatively low value transaction (we’re talking tens of thousands, not millions). There are much easier ways to do it - Bris-Syd is a day’s drive with it in the car boot and virtually zero risk, minimal involvement of other people etc.

The best slant I could see on her story is that she was an unwitting carrier for someone she knows, and doesn’t want to give them up (or doesn’t know who did it?).

A couple of other observations on this case:

  • the reaction from many Australians on the case was quite disturbing - there are clearly more redneck racists than I would care to think
  • why is the Australian taxpayer paying her legal bills? I don’t believe this is the norm and can’t see why it should be. Sure Australians should expect help from the local embassy or consulate, but there is a limit to what we should expect. In this case its populism on the Government’s part - her cause is a popular one and she has much public support, and the Government has elected to jump on the bandwagon.

At the end of the day, regardless of how the legals turn out, I expect she’ll be out of gaol and back home within 5 years. Some sort of deal will end up being done between ours and the Indonesian government.

Swans did it!!!

The Swans won in the end by 4 points. This is the first premiership for them since 1933.

What a game! It was the closest grand final for years, and ebbed and flowed right through the 2nd half. As I said in my previous post, the Swans were up by 20 at half time. The Eagles came back in the third quarter and got to within 2 points at 3/4 time. Then they dominated the first 10 minutes or so of the last quarter, getting out to 10 points up at one stage. In the end the Swans came back, got their noses in front, and stayed there, ultimately winning by 4. Even as the siren sounded fulltime, the Eagles were deep in attack and could have taken the game.

Canberra’s Floriade

Canberra has its Floriade spring festival every year. I haven’t been for several years, so today, with nothing better to do for an hour or so, and keen to play with my digicam, decided to pay a visit. It hasn’t changed much over the years, but its worth a look. It is, as usual, full of people.

It is apparently a big drawcard for tourists to come to Canberra - which is why it was started about 10-15 years (??) ago. Busloads come from Sydney and other places. At one stage our local government, in its great wisdom, tried charging $10 admission. That only lasted a couple of years - now its free.

There’s a bit of a kerfuffle about a rival Floriade which has started up in the Hunter Valley. No doubt there’ll be lawyers at 40 paces sometime. A bit rich though, Canberra knocked the idea off from somewhere in Europe if my memory serves me correctly.

What the fuck is she famous for?

Can somebody tell me what the fuck Paris Hilton is actually famous for? What has she actually done to become famous? She seems to be another of those people who is famous for being famous, not because of anything they’ve ever done. Just what talents does she have?

Budget surplus

The government has revised its forecast for the Budget surplus to $13.6B, up from $9.2B.

I have to wonder what all the public servants in Treasury and the Dept of Finance do, because their ability to model the economy and forecast the budget is shocking! The $9.2B was a figure from May - less than 6 months later, its out by almost 50%.

Maybe if the forecasting was decent we could pay less tax and keep more of our hard earned in our own pockets. Or, the government could spend the money in a planned way on worthwhile things rather than pissing it against the wall in various porkbarrelling programs (wow- we’ve got all this extra money, what can we do with it?)

INXS = Pathetic

How pathetic are INXS ever since Michael Hutchence topped himself. Now they’ve found their new lead singer.

Guys - you should have given it away years ago. Your attempts to keep going without Hutchence have been pathetic, and this latest effort the most pathetic of the lot. Surely you don’t need the money anymore?

Give up and retire gracefully.
