Desperate and despicable
I’ve been following the coronial inquest into the death of Mrs Dianne Brimble over the last week or so. Mrs Brimble died on board the Pacific Sky cruise ship in September 2002. She was found dead on the floor of a group of men’s cabin, naked, apparently having died of an overdose of the date rape drug, gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB, GBH, fantasy). Eight Adelaide men, Mark Robin Wilhelm, Matthew Graham Slade, Dragan Losic, Petar Vladimir Pantic, Ryan Kym Kuchel, Letterio Silvestri, Luigi Vitale and Sakelaros Kambouris, have been named by police as “persons of interest”.
These delightful characters apparently met Mrs Brimble at the ship’s disco on the first night of the cruise. Between then and when she was found dead in their cabin, Wilhelm had sex with her and had photos of this taken by his mates, which they proudly showed to other passengers, and another, Silvestri had received oral sex from her (although what is more likely is he stuck his cock in an unconscious woman’s mouth …what a buzz for him!). Then, after she’d died, our heroes planned to toss her body overboard, but found there was too much traffic on the ship.
After the tragedy, they continued to treat it all as a big joke. They seemed to spend their time harassing women passengers, including such delightful treats as grabbing and kissing them, singing “Who let the dogs out” and barking at them, approaching teenage girls and asking to see their girly bits and offering them “fun and excitement” in their room and other delightful seduction techniques. Women passengers giving evidence at the inquest have said they thought the group of men strange and threatening.
Now, I ask myself, what sort of losers drug women to get a root? What sort of dickheads like to share women with their mates, and take photos of their deeds? (so they can circle jerk together later on).
My theory - these 8 have some major suppressed sexual identity issues. No doubt they are in love with (a) themselves and (b) each other. However, they get around shagging as many women, willing or not, as they possibly can, to show each other what big men they are, when they’d rather be sharing some good sex among themselves.
Interesting also to note that the 8 are from Adelaide - the weird sex crime/serial killer capital of Australia.
Update (25/3/2006) - good article in today’s SMH about the inquest. Not in the online text, but in the paper itself, one thing that surprised me were the ages of the men under suspicion. Much older than I thought - to be precise, 33, 32, 45, 28,29, 42, 41 and 43 (31/3/2006 - I stand corrected, thats their ages now, from what I gather).
Update (29/3/2006): seems like the police are now taking Mrs Brimble’s death more seriously than to date, with the homicide squad now investigating. I’m fascinated to know why its taken 4 years to get to this point. Also, I heard on the news last night that 4 or 5 of the “persons of interest” have criminal records, mostly for drug related offences, but one had a rape conviction.

so much for innocent until proven guilty. if all 8 are so clearly evil scum the world can do without, then why is this all coming forward 4 years later? While it is clear that there are some individuals that have much to answer for, why are all 8 being slaughtered by the media? Di was dancing in the disco at 4:20 am yet several of the 8 were passed out in a separate room by 3 am? If they are absolute filth that society can do without for drinking to much and doing drugs occasionally, then most people since the late 60s are in trouble. While GBH is presented as a date rape drug, it is more rightly a ‘rave drug’ or ‘dance drug’ not unlike extacy. GBH is a much more dangerous form but it is not a ‘date rape’ drug. In fact at least 4 of the 8 took it themselves. Before we label all 8 scum bags, perhaps we should see where the enquiry into an event that happened 4 years ago leads.

Just because you call the drug something different doesn’t make it alright.

People, please educate yourselves.
GHB was only used in 3% of some 3,300 drink spiking cases reported by the Australian Institute of Criminology (Nov 2004)across Australia in one year. Of these only 8% had no relationship or had not met the perpetrator previously.
Sounds like they are barking up the wrong tree.

Anonymous (9.39 am today) - that smacks of blaming the victim for the crimes committed against her. Even if she was drunk, flirting etc, it doesn’t give some sleaze the right to drug her senseless so he can use her for his own self-gratification.

Precise means exact, so for the anus who wrote their much older ages, get your facts correct before you backbite them some more. For instance number 8 is a misused figure at this late stage of the inquest, as it is clear not all men were involved. Barbaric as you make them sound, their intention was not to harm Mrs.B & i say that being a female who has partied with half of the accused. Maybe think of those innocent men who HAD NOTHING to do with it, scum bag is what i’d call a pedophile…

No they did not need to drug me, nor do they with anyone!!!! Believe what you like, they respect the individuals choice if it was said to be “NO”. Never in a thousand years would 16 mills be given to her concently. There are so many fit people in society that you’d have no idea socially take this drug, definatly more than the sicko’s who abuse it 4 rape. The affects are like being a bit drunk 4 those who have NO IDEA what it does, so have a think what some females/males are like when they are intoxicated….

Yes, yes, anyone with a misspent youth knows about party drugs. I think the issue outside of drugs here is the appalling behaviour of these men. Who knows if they forced drugs into her…we do know however they took advantage of her, were abusive to her and other women on the ship, and didn’t even have the decency to alert someone when she was “found” by them DEAD on the floor of their cabin. Yelling, “who let the dogs out” at other female passengers is imbecilic behaviour, a taste of their attitude towards this woman which obviously lead to a horrendous situation. One, which these men should be fully blamed for.

Innocent or not these men have demonstrated absolutely appalling behaviour and disrespect to women and shown complete lack of sensitivity towards the whole situation. Refusing to talk to someone ‘cos you consider them ugly or ‘cos they’re over 60kgs is just ridiculous. Throughout the whole investigation Silvestri refers to Brimble as a “thing” or “ugly dog”. Nice one bro! Also blames her for ruining his holiday. Show some respect you useless piece of dog-turd! There are still people grieving over this!
Harassing other women on the cruise, showing explicit photos of themselves having sex with a drug fuct person is not something GOOD blokes do.
Even if these guys are innocent and the whole thing was consensual, how can one defend them and say they’re decent human beings? I apologise on behalf of the male gender for the existence of guys like this. We’re not all like that!

I used to think that I respected everyone’s right to free speech, but after reading the moronic drivel coming from “female who has partied with half of the accused” I have an annoucement to make - “I’ve changed my mind!”
The only just reward for your idiocy is to end up in a relationship with one of these losers - what a match eh? Only problem is that you would most likely breed more just like yourself. Erk what a horrid thought.
It’s a pity that, at the time of the cruise, these worms didn’t exercise some “Darwin Award” worthy discretion and throw themselves overboard instead of attempting to provide that service for their victim; thereby removing their digusting presence and (probably) sub-normal genes from our pool.
I can only hope that these obviously socially and morally deficient (and very likely small penis’d) scumbags get precisely what coming to them.

I totally agree. While we may never know exactly what happened on the cruise ship the picture of the behaviour and attitude of some of these men is pretty ugly. Actually beyond ugly. Repulsive. Actually beyond repulsive. Where were they when values and consciences were handed out. Not that it is at all relevant, and it is really inappropriate to comment but I think Dianne looked beautiful.

From time to time, we are all guilty of being excited by false recognition, when someone we may find attractive finds us attractive too. And we may engage in harmless flirting. Were the drugs offered to her in the form of a drink like other cases? If so did she just want to add a bit of spice to her mundane life knowing it was drugs or was she believed it was jst another alcoholic beverage?
Was Mrs Brimble having a midlife crisis? Who knows? Maybe she wanted to add some excitement in her life try things she never experienced before… Fact is we don’t know what happened for sure!
What happened to Mrs. Brimble being sexually assaulted then being treated as anything but human is the most disgusting and sorded part of this.
Attacking the person who has partied with half the guys is wrong. The cabin held four of the men, 2 initiated sexual misconduct, leaving 4 in another cabin who had nothing to do with it.
Tell me who has a friend that is perfect? We are all aquainted with people who do bad things, and to say that i am bad because my friend(s) did something bad is stupid!
As for sexual and disgusting remarks… i am a 23 yr old lady who hears nasty comments like that almost every day, unfortunately it is a part of human nature, i do not condone their behaviour, i am appauled, as much so as when it happens to me. But why should other persons names get dragged through the mud if they had absolutely nothing to do with it?

Does anyone really follow this case, if they did they would know that the immediate family do not want justice, revenge, pity or sympathy.
The want the truth and closure. Sitting at the inquest every day listening to all the facts, no matter how disturbing or disgusting is the hardest thing anyone could ever endure, but they are doing it for the TRUTH.
Now the “8 men of interest” want the opposite, they want closure for themselves and their family, but i can assure you they do not want the truth, and the repercussions that would come with the truth, jail, persecution etc.
It is the familys on both sides that have, are and will suffer. Dianne Brimble is a native of PNG. Her family overseas are not as forgiving as both Mark and David and still stongly believe in an “Eye for an Eye” mindset.
If anyone knows the “rascals” in the region, they know they take these issues, very, very seriously indeed, for them it is a matter of pride.
I would hate to see the most likely outcome, come to fruition, and to date Mark Robin Wilhelm and Letterio “Leo” Silvestri should have a very very worried extended family.
Will these (i was going to call them men, sorry) people still be this arrogant when “jungle justice” is carried out on their loved ones, be it their mothers, wifes, partners, daughters or just about any other female faction of their family.
It really is a pity these “8 plp of interest” wont realise their mistake until others have suffered.
The only real chance their family has is to finally be “men”, tell the truth and let the legal justice system hand out the punishments.
