Go Jana!
Good on Jana Pittman who won the 400m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games tonight!
Now where did Tamsyn Lewis come in her race …. didn’t make the final.
I was bloody sick of their so called feud, and both of them should let their sporting deeds do their talking for them and shut the fuck up. But at least Jana has the results on the board! She has them at both the sort of elite level of the Commonwealth Games (twice) and the real elite level (world championships).

Fair play to Jana. I think Tamsyn was just looking for a higher profile. The dumbass should run a little faster to back it up next time.

What a great commonwealth games!
Melbourne has been immense.
But a really sad finish to the athletics with Tamsyn Lewis’ shameful antics to strip Gold from England, and dreadful double standards by Officials and Team Australia whose outgoing runner in the Mens 4 x 400 carelessly impeded two other teams after the second leg.
How was this actual impeding of another athlete considered ok when the technicality of the womens race was handled so harshly?
If the English woman had impeded the Australian in any actual way it would have been a possible protest, but it takes tow people to move positions and the move casued no change. It’s a stupid rule anyway. Have you ever seen a relay race. Positions change dramatically between 200 to 400 metres from the end.
It spoilt a great games experience to see the Aussies steal a gold medal they clearly did not need to steal just becasue 70th ranked Tamsyn Lewis thought she deserved as much hype as other Australians who performed brilliantly and actually deserved it.
She should be suspended by her athletics association for upholding the appeal and for her comments afterwards.
Disillusioned and disgusted.
(And also aware I will be ignored becasue I’m a POM.)

As I said on my blog, that relay was the most shameful episode in Australian Sport since the underarm ball in 1981.

The women’s relay was pretty embarrassing. How pathetic to protest about something totally inconsequential that in no way was going to affect the result of the race. Deduct one gold from Australia and add it to England.
Tamsyn Lewis has a gold, it was the only way she could get one.

“How was this actual impeding of another athlete considered ok when the technicality of the womens race was handled so harshly?”
Because none of the other teams protested, basically. On one of the changeovers the Aussie athlete in lane one was pushing himself and the English runner out into lane two. They weren’t swapping positions but certainly weren’t ’staying in their allocated lane’ either.
There’s always a certain amount of barging in a relay - it’s unavoidable and makes for exciting racing. Applying the letter of the law in most competitive 4×400’s would result in the disqualification of half the field.

Shame that the protest came from Jana
Insecurity is a terrible thing for her - she would love to bethe next cathy freeman but unfortunately she has neither the grace, class or charisma to be that.
If she shut up and stopped being so dramatic would be great
If only she had hit the fist hurdle and lost
