Ripped
off!

The penalty in the last few seconds of the Australia vs Italy game was nothing but a joke. Once again, soccer makes a mockery of itself, with the Italian diving team getting the reward for its efforts. Shit penalty, even shitter referee. If FIFA is fair dinkum, the Italian diver will get suspended for the rest of the tournament - but that won’t happen, because FIFA is itself a joke.
The Spanish referee should never be appointed to an international level game again - he fell for the dive, gullible idiot.
Hopefully, Italy will go no further in this tournament. They don’t deserve to, having won by cheating.
On the other hand, once again, Australia showed its usual inability to capitalise on opportunities. How often do they dominate large chunks of a game, but just can’t score? Had they been good enough they could have scored and not been exposed to the risk of a dodgy penalty.

What pisses me off even more is that I got out of my nice warm bed in the middle of a freezing cold night to watch it.
Gggrrrrrr.

I agree. I don’t usually swear but we were motherfucking robbed.
I was so proud of the guys though - I thought they really played well against defensive maestros (Italy did play well too - under the circumstances, and I thought they were unlucky to go down to ten men)
First the Japan game and Schwarzer foul, the the Simunic ‘trifecta of yellow’ and unawarded penalties now this. Did we run over Blatter’s cat or something??

I think it is one of the reasons I can’t enjoy soccer. Sorry fo rthose who do, and feel free to delete this, but here goes.
To succeed in soccer, you need one thing. Acting skills. The whole game is how well you can fall over and claim penalties. If this didn’t happen, no one would ever score, and the game would fail.
While I enjoyed the Australia v Japan match, I know remember why I don’t enjoy the sport.
You might think I’m saying this because we’re out of the cup - to tell you the truth, I don’t give a rats. Good on them for making it and all, and I’ll jump on the bandwagon as quick as the next guy, but I don’t see the attraction to the sport.
How the fuck it became “the world game”/still IS the world game, I’ll never know.

Why did I bother to read beyond that sentence?
Football will eventually revert to it’s original self but, in the meantime, there are cheats around. Is it a coincidence that in a time when more money is at stake in the AFL, cheating and soft rules designed to prevent physical contact are prevalent?
Form an educated opinion rather than an ignorant one.
