Obscene? Offensive??

Babytalk / AFP

Readers of an American parenting magazine thought so.  Several readers said they were “embarrassed” or “offended” by the Babytalk photo and one woman from Nevada said she “immediately turned the magazine face down” when she saw the photo.  Another reader said she was “horrified” when she received the magazine and hoped that her husband hadn’t laid eyes on it.

Errrr …. what do you expect in a magazine about babies and parenting???   Did you not get naked when you made your babies?  (Maybe, but they always have the lights off.)  Did you not realise boobs are for babies (in the first place, other uses such as fun and decoration are ancillary benefits)?

  1. Half naked women on magazine covers and reality TV pr0n are ok, but breastfeeding should be banned. Stat! /sarcasm.

    Anyone mention losing reality?

  2. ROFL “Another reader said she was “horrified” when she received the magazine and hoped that her husband hadn’t laid eyes on it.”

bet my bottom dollar he did :)

  3. *Sigh* Thankfully, we have these people to act as moral compasses…

    dickheads.

Of course, nursing a baby is so morally reprehensible, and should only be done in the sanctuary that befits it; the ladies loo.

  4. They really expected a parenting magazine to not show a picture like that sooner or later? It’s a way of life people, get over your inhibitions.

  5. Who says thats even a boob? for all we know, the baby is just kising its mothers (pregnant) stomach! lol…

Seriously though. Breastfeeding is something that should be more accepted. It’s natural, isn’t it? Better than a picture of mum (dressed with no skin showing – that would be outrageous) making up a bottle of formula!

  6. They didn’t even show the nipple(s). What’s up with all the people? Oh and I bet they’re only half naked when they made their babies. Lights off, too, of course.

  7. Don’t these people have anything better to do? I can’t believe how so many people can get their knickers in a twist over something as harmless as that.

  8. “Did you not realise boobs are for babies (in the first place, other uses such as fun and decoration are ancillary benefits)?”

Think you got it backwards mate! Boobs are for babies . . . after daddy get through with them!

  9. I like breasts. I think we should ban babies (joke!!!). Ay Caramba! What has the world come to? That we even have to discuss this picture is absurd.
Soon, farmers will have to build walls around paddocks so we don’t see cows pee or “make love”!
We’ll probably have to change the colour of the sky because blue has always been a “male” colour!
    What else?

  10. I find the entire concept offensive, not just the cover. I mean what are packs of wild dogs FOR if not rearing our young?

  11. I have to agree; this is “Utter”ly ridiculous. I tried to breastfeed all of my 5, was not successful in all, but just because I was ignorant. The one I managed to breastfeed for a long time; well it was great; for both she and I. I breastfed in public and tried not to pay attention to the idiots who turned their noses up at me. I just wish we didn’t have to try and “cover” up while we did it. It is difficult to keep a blanket over you while trying to get the little bugger nurse.

I have to admit though, I got a kick out of doing in front of people in a restaurant; while they were eating. I mean, my baby had to eat, so whats the diff? Still cracks me up thinking about the looks; I say “f*ck em!”
