I was out last night till 2 am, and spent over $300. And I didn’t drink a drop of anything alcoholic. Can’t recall being out that late and sober at the same time, for ages.



The problem was one sick dog. She started coughing and gagging, like she was trying to spew, but nothing would come up. We rang the emergency vet, and decided to monitor her and see if she settled down, but no, she started up again. Wife and daughter were worried she was choking, so called the vet again. So off we went about midnight or so, to the vet. Of course, once we were there, she stopped all the coughing and gagging, despite going like crazy in the car.



Anyway, after lots of poking and prodding, a couple of x-rays and needles, the vet figured it was nothing major. So after handing over $300 plus, we went home.



Dogs … who’d have ‘em?



PS: At our regular vet today, it ended up being a case of kennel cough. Odd, we thought, because she hasn’t ever stayed in a kennel, and was immunised against it. But apparently, they can get it from any other dogs they come in contact with, and the immunisations are only effective against 2 of about 8 strains of it.
