Normality resumes

The Ashes are back in Australia’s hands after losing them to England last year, for the first time in 16 years. England surrendered them with only limited resistance, nothing like the hard fight that won them the Ashes. Australia leads the 5 test series 3-0 after 3 games, and unless they lose interest in the next 2 games, look likely to win 5-0.

Adam Gilchrist, Ricky Ponting and Shane Warne celebrate the 3-0 series win with a replica Ashes urn.

I think its a measure of the relative strength of the 2 teams that in 2005, England were at the top of their game and Australia slightly off, which allowed England to win the series narrowly (but very deservedly … I thought they dominated the series more than the final results indicated), but this time around, Australia is back on top of its game and England off, and we are flogging them.

  2. The Aussies really nailed this series. It was a great way for Warne to go out.

Now if the West Indies would just back to their glory days, I’d be perfectly happy. I’m an Aussie for all other sports, but in cricket I’ll always be a West Indian…even when the team is kind of average. :(
