Sorry, this might be heartless
…. but I’m going to say it anyway. Rove McManus returns to TV tonight, for the first time since the death of his wife Belinda Emmett. Hence the glut of stories in the press over the last few days.
A couple of things I can confidently predict:
- the TV Week Logie Awards are coming up soon ….nothing surer than a Gold Logie for Rove
- Rove has, during his absence from public view, completed the “bitter-sweet” task of putting the finishing touches on Emmett’s long-awaited debut album, due for release in late April ….nothing surer than this will get a shitload more airplay and sales than it is ever likely to deserve on its musical merits.
Both will score mountains of sympathy votes.

Oh SNAP! I just posted this exact question on a forum i go to and was howled down as a h8ter!!!
Totally agree. I actually like Rove but this smacks of selling out his wifes memory for cheap ratings.
Dissapointed much.

While I don’t watch it, he has said that he will make mention of the matter of his wife’s death on his show tonight is it? That should ensure good first night ratings. Tis an awful thing though, of course.

I don’t mind Rove, and will probably watch tonight. I also don’t doubt the loss of his wife was tragic for him and their families. Nevertheless, being dead doesn’t automatically qualify Belinda Emmett as a fantastic actress (which we had in her eulogies in the media at the time of her death) nor as a musical genius (which will no doubt come when her CD is released).

I think he has had enough sympathy in the media already… I thought it was very sad when Belinda passed away, but lets hope we don’t have to hear about it in the news for the next week! After all, many people died every day - they are no less important.
