Its nearly footy season again
Must be, with yet another NRL footballer in trouble with the law.
This time its Gold Coast Titans player, Anthony Laffranchi (who was playing for Wests when the alleged crime occurred in September last year). He was today charged with sexual assault without consent over an incident which occurred at a post season party in Sydney. (Interesting charge - is it indeed possible to consent to being sexually assaulted?).
Reading between the lines, it seems the alleged victim has flaked out on a bed at the party, affected by alcohol or perhaps some drug, and some guy (allegedly a football player) has, ahem, taken advantage of her, so to speak.
When will footballers learn to behave? Such events are as regular as clockwork. Oh wait, they probably will never learn. Run that way, catch, pass, kick, tackle the guys in the other coloured jumpers to ours, is all they need to know, and all it seems many can cope with in the way of learning life skills.
