Blogging yourself nuts!

Internet addiction is a “common” mental disorder that should be recognised by health officials. The American Journal of Psychiatry published an editorial claiming that internet addiction met the criterion for a mental disorder and called on the American Psychiatric Association to officially list it as such.

According to the editorial, internet addiction consists of three particular subtypes: excessive gambling, sexual preoccupations and email or text messaging.

Phew!!! That seems to rule out blogging … unless of course you’re blogging about gambling, sex or email and text messaging (although I suppose you could say those latter ones and reading and posting on blogs are very similar).

  3. Actually, I think blogging is probably too new. Definitely, blogging will become some type of psychological disorder one day.

  4. I have met many people online who have phobias that keep them from interacting with others and the Internet is their only social outlet. Blogging also helps people with chronic illness to both find and share information. I think of it as a tool.

  5. Well let’s see if we qualify:

    1. we feel the need to write as much as possible, daily if we can
    2. we always thing “Aha, this is going in my blog”
    3. we waste a lot of time reading blogs, commenting, dropping cards, digging etc.

I think we do have a problem :D

  7. Hmmm, the time I used to online and using computer is more than the time I used for sleeping.

I dunno, but maybe I’m addicted to this online world too. However, I will make sure that my social life is not being affected as well. I will got for sports at least once a week.
