Why steal Zimbabwe?

I heard Robert Mugabe on CNN tonight, going on about the British, accusing them of trying to steal his country, or in his own words:
“down with the British, down with the thieves who want to steal our country”.
My immediate reaction to this is why would anyone bother to steal Zimbabwe ….its such a total shithole of a country and would be lucky to be worth about $1 to anyone stupid enough to want to buy it.

“a total shithole of a country” Is that the elected officials, the poeple, the economy, the culture, or just your feeling after having visited?
It’s just shithole tends to be sort of a blanket term and I’m curious about how you made the assessment-If I know more maybe I can agree.
I don’t want to buy the country, I just want to buy the name of the country. I’ve always thought “Zimbabwe” sounded cool.
Dave – just a general impression. Thuggish government, once decent economy run into the ground, etc.
Actually I am a Rhodesia kind of a guy. As for Zimbabwe, it is probably the only country I could afford. Mugabe will be banging on about the Brits until he croaks or someone croaks him.
Oh, I don’t know. I’ve always wanted to be a warlord. What better way to start?
