A question of priorities
Police pulled up a car near Alice Springs and found:
- one five year old boy not wearing a seatbelt
- one 30 can slab of beer, wearing a seatbelt.
The policeman who pulled the car over said the driver of the car “just looked at me blankly” when he was handed a $750 fine for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, and failing to ensure a child was wearing a seatbelt.
“There were four adults in the car, two in the front seat and two in the back seats and in between those adults there was the carton of beer strapped in with the belt,” he said.
“The child was sitting in the lump in the centre, unrestrained.”
“I asked him about the fact the child was unrestrained and the beer was, and he said he didn’t know anything about it.”
I’m not sure what is more disturbing ….that morons like this drive, or that they breed?
I wonder if these are the working families that Mr Rudd is targeting?
I noticed yesterday an article about the number of kids killed in cars and most of the causes were incorrectly sized restraints. I think no restraint and a slab following you out the window might be enough to kill you.
The disturbing thing is that they can breed. And get paid $5k for doing so. $5k buys a lot of slabs to restrain in your car.
The parents need to be restrained too…from having any further contact with the child and from breeding again!
I made the following comment somewhere else, am not surprised at all. Wonder how many howls of protest will go up when the government brings in the card where a portion of social security funds can be accessed only by a plastic ATM type card and can only be spent on food items, clothing etc for children. They won’t be able to use the money for alcohol or cigarettes or drugs. These cards will be linked to parents or care givers who are negligent, abusive, drug and or alcohol dependent. Yay, the government has done the right thing in this case and the people in this particular case should be one of the first on the list.
