You’ll notice I’ve taken the Entrecard widget down from the prominent place at the top of the sidebar and moved it way down the page.
There are a couple of reasons for this:
- I was getting bored with EC, and dropping cards had become a chore
- the final straw was the appalling treatment of Turnip of Power, banned from EC for having a little dig at EC’s owner on Twitter – way over the top, heavy handed censorship and dummy spit of the highest order.
I’m not quite at the point of ditching EC altogether, but I’m close. For the time being I’m leaving the widget up, but you won’t see me dropping nearly as much as I have been …. only my favourite blogs with EC will see regular visits from me, visits they’d get regardless of the presence of a widget.

I’d try SiteHoppin “set it and forget it” widgets, don’t spend your valuable time dropping meaningless cards. Duh!
I’m exactly where you are. Not quite ready to ditch it, but close. Never thought of moving the widget down. Good first step…
I found dropping cards took way too much time from what I enjoy – blogging. I haven’t been active in the EC forums, but when I read about Turnip, well it’s just ridiculous. As for now, I use EC to catch whatever residue traffic there is from my active dropping days, and to advertise a bit when the credits pile up.
I’m in a doubt for what’s going on in EC atmosphere ‘coz I’m quite new on this. What I see that my alexa raise quite significant since I joined EC. But yes maybe in the future it’ll be boring to drop cards everyday, but for now let me see.
I heard about what happened to Turnip. Posted on his site that I will continue to read his posts, which I have been doing for months now. However, on the other end, not many bloggers can really afford to get rid of EC at this time, especially if is doing their site more good.
Me too has to follow same step as of yu because of getting bored for dropping card and wasting time but main reason was increase of my bounce rate.
