Shayda Bastani Rad (the brunette in the photo) was sitting in a car with her boyfriend the other day, when a gunman shot him 5 times in the stomach, chest and arm. She was also shot during the attack, in the leg. Bad luck for her, you’d think?

But it turns out a former fiance of hers was also shot, dead in his case, in 2006.
And it gets more complicated still. Her current boyfriend is Fadi Ibrahim, brother of the notorious Sydney (dodgy?) nightclub owner, John Ibrahim. In the past, he has been the subject of hundreds of police intelligence reports. Ibrahim has consistently denied the allegation put to him during the Wood royal commission in 1996 that he was the “lifeblood of the drugs industry of Kings Cross”. He has never been convicted of a crime. Another brother, Sam, is a former chapter president of the Nomads motorcycle gang. Another brother, Michael, is in jail for killing a man.
Even more interestingly, Shayda was previously engaged to a close friend of Fadi Ibrahim, Faouzi Abou Jibal. Abou Jibal was shot dead in 2006, apparently in reprisal for the killing Michael Ibrahim is in jail for. Abou Jibal was said to be the one who actually stabbed the victim in that attack to death. 2 Ibrahim cousins are also in jail over that death.
Court records reveal Ms Bastani identified the knife used to kill Mr Nassour as the one she purchased on eBay as a gift for her fiance in December 2005. A source close to the family said yesterday Ms Bastani was suffering nightmares after Friday’s shooting. “She is freaking out,” the source said. “She is a nice person, a young girl. She is petrified.”
Maybe so, but she really needs to be more choosy with her men. Perhaps using a criteria other than their flashy wealth might be a starting point? She may be nice and all that, but surely she can’t be so naive as to not have at least an inkling of where these guys are getting their money from?
Oh, and when I first saw this story, before any of the victims were named, man shot while sitting outside his house in his Lamborghini, just screams out car bought with drug dealing profits – mind you, I see any young guy driving a flash car and I assume drug dealer.
