C’est si simple

I found this after watching a repeat of the miniseries “Answered by Fire” on ABC TV a couple of weeks back.  This was a pretty decent program about the vote for independence in East Timor in 1999, and starred Australian actor David Wenham and Canadian actress Isabelle Blais.  Knowing nothing about Isabelle Blais, I googled her, and found that as well as being a very good actor, she also sings in a band called Caiman Fu. Let’s dance

I’ve never really watched more than about 10 minutes of “Dancing with the Stars”, but it seems the Australian version is very tame compared to what they get in other countries. For instance, in Argentina, it’s basically porn.  Cinthia Fernandez in a recent episode starts the dance off in a racy outfit with her toga-clad partner. It’s some sort of Roman orgy scene, but with only two people. What follows is less of a dance and more of [...] Continue Reading…

Don’t rape

One of Bilal Skaf’s rapist mates has been denied parole and told to address his offending (rapist) behaviour.  Mohammed Sanoussi, 27, was refused parole today for his part in two gang rapes in Sydney in 2000.  He was originally sentenced to 21 years in jail, later reduced on appeal to 16 years.  He first became eligible for parole last year, and today was his second failed attempt at getting released from jail. The [...] Continue Reading…

Last meal

It seems the tradition of giving condemned prisoners their choice of a last meal before their execution has gone out the window in Texas.  State senator John Whitmire demanded an end to the practice after learning of the meal request of Lawrence Brewer, who was executed this week.  Brewer asked for two chicken fried steaks, a triple-meat bacon cheeseburger, fried okra, a pound (450 grams) of barbecue meat, three fajitas, a meat lover’s pizza, a pint of [...] Continue Reading…

Happy families

One such family in Sydney was the one where a 75 year old man and his 36 year old son were fighting in their home last week.  Mum (65) stepped in to try to stop the fight and was punched in the head and chest by Dad.  Police arrived at the house as the fight continued in the front yard, but the woman refused medical treatment, they said. An ambulance was called when she later suffered breathing [...] Continue Reading…

A good night out

What’s the harm in going out with your mates for a few drinks, and watching a bit of dwarf throwing?  That’s what England rugby captain Mike Tindall did on a night out in Queenstown in New Zealand.  Mike is of course Mr Zara Phillips, and thus a minor member (by marriage) of the British royal family. Throw in a bit of kissing and groping with a local blonde woman, including burying his head in her breasts, [...] Continue Reading…

Another strong argument for compulsory sterilisation

Another clear example of a person who should never have been allowed to breed. A 14 year old boy was injured in Sydney while being towed by a car driven by his mother.  Fortunately he seems only to have ended up with a bad case of gravel rash after falling. The local police said that the mother knew what her son was doing, and that: "It’s usually something we associate with younger people, [...] Continue Reading…

Hey boofhead!

As if we needed proof that football is played by boofheads, I give you Manly rugby league player Darcy Lussick.

Last Friday night, in a game between his team and the Melbourne Storm, there was a brawl involving most if not all 26 players on the field and some of the reserves bench.   You can’t actually see Darcy in the photo – he is right in the thick of it at the bottom of the pile of players.

The brawl has [...] Continue Reading…

Will this have a happy ending?

Given the government has a one seat majority in parliament, and that only with the votes of a Green and 2 independents, I’m not seeing a happy ending for Craig Thomson, the ALP member for the seat of Dobell.  Nor for the Prime Minister and her government. Mr Thomson has been accused in Federal Parliament and in newspapers of using a union credit card to pay for prostitutes. During defamation proceedings begun by Mr Thomson against one of [...] Continue Reading…
