Confirmation of what we already knew

Airline food is bad for you. A New Zealand man choked to death on his dinner on a Jetstar flight from Singapore to Auckland. Don’t order the beef next time you fly Jetstar.  Better still, don’t order any of the food.  Better still, avoid Jetstar.

Hey boofhead!

As if we needed proof that football is played by boofheads, I give you Manly rugby league player Darcy Lussick.

Last Friday night, in a game between his team and the Melbourne Storm, there was a brawl involving most if not all 26 players on the field and some of the reserves bench.   You can’t actually see Darcy in the photo – he is right in the thick of it at the bottom of the pile of players.

The brawl has [...] Continue Reading…

Will this have a happy ending?

Given the government has a one seat majority in parliament, and that only with the votes of a Green and 2 independents, I’m not seeing a happy ending for Craig Thomson, the ALP member for the seat of Dobell.  Nor for the Prime Minister and her government. Mr Thomson has been accused in Federal Parliament and in newspapers of using a union credit card to pay for prostitutes. During defamation proceedings begun by Mr Thomson against one of [...] Continue Reading…

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

Went to Sydney and back today to see “Mary Poppins” at the Capitol Theatre.  Didn’t actually plan to go until yesterday – I was a late substitute for my wife who couldn’t go (with my daughter and niece).  Even though it wasn’t really a show I’d normally choose to go see, I enjoyed it very much, and it was a high quality production.

Tip for mums – iced milk is not good for baby

So discovered an American mother, who breast fed her baby after taking a large quantity of methamphetamine.  She has been charged with various crimes, including murder, manslaughter and child abuse, after her son, aged 6 weeks died, and was found to have methamphetamine in his system. The mother’s lawyer rejected the murder accusation, saying she was an addict, not a killer, and the murder charge ”makes her out to be a terrible, horrible person who needs to be [...] Continue Reading…

On the job (back for seconds)

I see that our lady public servant who took her employer to court over injuries she suffered while enjoying a bit of a romp with a companion while staying at a motel for work hasn’t given up yet. Having lost out with her workers compensation claim, then presumably lost at the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, she’s now taken it as far as the Federal Court. Her man friend doesn’t seem to have done much good as a witness [...] Continue Reading…

Viva le Tour, viva Cadel

Congratulations to Cadel Evans on winning the Tour de France cycling race.  Has to be up there with the best Australian sporting achievements in my lifetime. He’s been close a couple of times before, but fallen just short.  Fantastic to see all his hard work finally pay off.

Off to an early start

A 13 year old boy has been charged with drink driving on the New South Wales north coast.  He was also charged with driving without a license. I bet his parents would be proud! Oh hang on, there was a 30 year old man in the car who was charged with aiding and abetting a drink driver and permitting an unlicensed driver.  Dad, I bet.

Canberra = retro fashions + porn action

There’s a public service advertisement doing the rounds here in Canberra at the moment.  Have a look (at the PDF that this links to) and you’ll be dying to come to this centre of cool.  This is just a snapshot of the modern public service.

Check out the style.

And if he couldn’t make it in the public service, there’s always a job for the guy at the lunch buffet in 70’s porn movies.

Blondie in this photo is Ian, but while [...] Continue Reading…
